CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
.
The Yoga Wheel teacher training program offers training based on study, practice, contemplation and embodiment of the traditions and philosophy of classical branches of Yoga, integrated in a somatic approach to movement and embedded in the essentials of mindfulness meditation training .
.
This training offers contemplative study and practice, rooted in the main branches of Yoga:
Jnana Yoga: Cultivating the path of wisdom, illuminated by open questioning and inquiry.
Raja Yoga: Training the mind through meditation.
Hatha Yoga: Also known as the Left-handed path, exploring the “sheaths” (Sanskrit “panchakosha“) of body/mind.
Karma Yoga: practice of service (Seva) to life.
Bhaki Yoga: Within their own spiritual tradition and/or devotion, the trainees will practice recognizing and honouring the sacredness in every living thing.
Naad Yoga: Known as the Yoga of sound, Naad Yoga includes the practice of primordial sounds and mantra.
Asana practice is taught in a lineage of Hatha yoga which can be traced through the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya (India), and more recently B.K.S. Iyengar (India), Dona Holleman (Italy), Orit Sen-Gupta (Israel) and Gioia Irwin (Canada).
We teach contemporary styles of: Hatha (inspired by the Vijnana Yoga), Restorative, Kundalini, as well as essentials of Yoga Therapy. We will also include the Tensegrity Repair Series, designed by a senior yoga teacher GIoia Irwin.
Meditation training is based on the practice of Mindfulness ( Sattipatana Sutra).
